The Hangar District, where Brabazon begins

In late 2019, we were selected by YTL Developments to create flagship CGIs, animation and interactive experiences for a new residential quarter, The Hangar District, Bristol. This sustainable development is the first phase of the visionary 354-acre Brabazon masterplan at Filton Airfield. With our Bristol roots, this was an opportunity that we couldn’t say no to!

We identified a bespoke marketing roadmap for the delivery and showcasing of the visuals to fit seamlessly with Brabazon’s marketing strategy. The visuals included:

  • Aerial and eye-level CGIs

  • Lifestyle animation

  • Sale Centre interactive touchscreen site explorer and live-data plot finder tool.

  • A desktop web optimised version of the interactive experience.

All our visuals were designed and carefully crafted to fit in with the well-established themes and branding of the Brabazon Vision. For the creation of the animations and interactive experiences, we ran workshops with YTLD’s marketing team to embed them within the creative process. The client was a full part of the creative and production journey which gave them outcomes they were overjoyed with.

Lifestyle Animation

Our lifestyle animation captures Brabazon’s spirit of endeavour philosophy whilst having a playful edge. It was created to appeal to a wide range of audiences and demographics as per the marketing strategy.

Interactives Experiences

At The Hangar District’s recently opened Sales Centre you’ll find our touch-screen interactive experience. Accompanied by a scale model of the site, the interface allows the user to explore the vision for the entire masterplan. Content-rich hotspots provide information on the surrounding area, transport links and future phases. Within The Hangar District itself, the public can immerse themselves in full 360-degree CGIs and explore each individual house and apartment via our custom-built plot finder. This tool is also linked to live price and availability information.

We also create a web desktop optimised version of the experience making it accessible to a wider audience.

CGIs

Working with architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, we crafted aerial and eye-level CGIs capturing the vibrant and diverse lifestyle of the streets, park and public square. Each image was led through a careful concept stage with accompanying mood and precedent imagery. We also depicted each house type individually for brochures and our plotfinder. The images needed to reflect the historic legacy of the site by faithfully depicting the renovated historic Hangar 16U and capturing the nuanced brickwork of the newly built homes.

This was a fantastic project to work on. And more than a year since we began, it’s exciting to see our visuals finally out there in the world — on buses, social media, online, in swanky print brochures and in the newly finished Sales Centre.
