M4 corridor around Newport

We supported joint venture Costain/Vinci to secure the £1bn contract to build the proposed M4 corridor around Newport.

Cinematic bid animation

We supported joint venture (JV) Costain/Vinci to secure the £1bn contract to build the proposed M4 corridor around Newport.

We captured the grey skies of Wales in this moody and cinematic animation. The film was used as the showpiece for the bid-winning presentation to the Welsh Government. It depicts their design for a dramatic new icon – the Usk River Bridge.

The M4 corridor and the main route between Magor and Castleton is the most heavily trafficked section of road in Wales – with over 100,000 vehicles travelling on it every day.

The Welsh Government was proposing a new section of motorway to the south of Newport including this new bridge. This scheme would cost around a billion pounds.

Winning bid presentation

Goodbye death by Powerpoint.

We learned the project inside out and helped Costain/Vinci create a story-led presentation featuring: dynamic CGI, animated diagrams, immersive photography and an animated cinematic ending.

Public engagement animation

Following the JV’s successful bid, we collaborated with Costain and the Welsh Government on their public engagement communication and exhibition materials.

The centrepiece of these assets was our fun and informative animation that gave a high-level overview of the project.

The full-length animation was split into bite-sized chunks for the Welsh Government’s website and social media channels. We also produced versions in Welsh and collaborated on the accompanying radio ad campain.

Exhibition interactives

On the road.

The Welsh government took their plans on the road with exhibitions in Newport and the surrounding area.

For the tour, we produced many additional communication assets to engage the public. This included an iPad App, 50” interactive touchscreen presentation, printed leaflets with bespoke illustrations, before and after panoramic photomontages and an interactive document library.
